About Car Cleaning Products

Car cleaning products to care for your car as used by valeting professionals are now available to buy online and delivered directly to your door.

As professional vehicle valeters we have spent many years testing various valeting products, tools and polish from most manufacturers. Most manufacturers have a full range of car cleaning products and out of their range often 2 or 3 stand out as particularly good.xcvxc

Vehicle exteriors - Shampoo and Polish

PolishAn automotive wax shampoo should be used when washing any vehicle, washing up liquid contains substances that can dull the shine of the paintwork. When washing the car, lifting the windscreen wiper blades and giving them a wipe helps stop the build up of road grime. When an automatic car wash is to be used, parking the wipers in a vertical position is a useful tip, if the bonnet line is lower than the wiper arms.

A pure bristle brush is a very useful tool to clean the crevices around chrome fittings, radiator grills etc, when used in conjunction with a car wash sponge during washing the exterior of the vehicle.

shampooBefore using polish, spray a light coat of silicone spray over the black moldings (door handles, plastic bumper inserts, front grill etc.) wiping the surplus off, then polish the paintwork. Any accidental polish contact on the sprayed surface can be removed easily. An extra coat of polish on the front of the car, wing mirror fronts, bonnet and the paintwork at the edge at the top of the windscreen is well worth the extra effort; this keeps the general appearance of the vehicle looking better for longer between polishes. Giving the front number-plate a coat of polish and then spraying with silicone spray makes insect removal a lot easier.

If after polishing, you have smears in the paintwork, a wipe over the area with a damp chamois leather will remove them or else wash and dry the car. If you wish to use a (new) paintbrush for cleaning as suggested above, make sure that you cover the metal ferule with tape so that you do not scratch other surfaces.

If when you have water mark problems on the windows of your car, after washing and drying them give the surface including wing mirrors a polish with car polish, do not use on the windscreen. We suggest a full polish in the spring and then again in the autumn.

Wheels

alloy wheel cleanerMost wheels have a coating over the complete wheel surface. The surface coating is tolerant to a wide range of temperatures and chemicals but is vulnerable to acid cleaners.

When cleaning the wheels make sure that they are cool, spray the wheel cleaner over the surface to be cleaned. Agitating gently with a pure bristle brush helps stop a build up of contaminates on the surface.

By cleaning as far back as you can the appearance is improved. Hard black spots that cannot be removed easily may be tar; to remove these spots use a non-abrasive tar remover.

An occasional light coat of car polish can help protect the surface.

Vehicle interiors - Glass, Upholstery and leather Cleaners

upholstery cleanerWhen using a spray glass cleaner, spray it onto the cloth rather than directly onto the glass, this reduces spillage on the dash. Solvent tar remover is useful to remove shoe scuff marks from door kick panels, also if used straight away, with care; accidental pen marks can be removed from upholstery. A dry, clean brush is also useful for cleaning dust out of vent grills and switches.

Spraying silicone spray onto a cloth and then wiping around the door seal rubber can improve the finish and stop the rubber sticking to the car door. Using a window cleaner's squeegee on the car windows after washing the car then use a chamois leather saves time.
